Situated on the northern fringe of the Red River Delta, Tam Dao National Park forms a unique ecological island, combining dense tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia, the temperate forests of southern China and the alpine forests of the eastern Himalayas. Tam Dao National Park covers a large part of Tam Dao range, which is one of the terminal spurs of a larger mountainous area. The boundary of the national park is located at an altitude of 100m around the Tam Dao range. Tam Dao National Park is covered by rich flora consisting of 490 species, the high classes belonging to 344 genera and 130 families. The park is a promising center for forest ecological research on rare and valuable flora and fauna.
Day 1: HANOI – TAM DAO (L, D)
Head out to visit Tam Dao, a national forest 85 km away in the north of Hanoi. Arrive in Tam Dao. Bird watching in the afternoon with specialties of Tam Dao such as pied falconets, ratchet-tailed treepies, bar-backed partridges, fork-tailed sunbirds and pin-tailed pigeons. Transfer to Tam Dao town, check in at hotel then free time to discover the ancient town. Overnight in Tam Dao.
Day 2: TAM DAO – HANOI (B, L)
After breakfast at your hotel, depart to visit Silver Waterfall and Ba Chua Thuong Ngan temple. Free time for your leisure and for lunch at local restaurant. Return to Hanoi in the afternoon. Arrive in Hanoi. Trip ends.
