The first International Tea Festival will be held in the northern province of Thai Nguyen from November 11 to 15, organizers announced at a press conference Wednesday.
The festival will feature a seminar on Vietnamese tea integrating into the international market, a parade, a tea culture festival, a cuisine and specialty market and other artistic activities.
A new national record, the biggest tea pot in Vietnam, will be displayed at the festival.
A tea night of 300 tea tables will receive the largest number of visitors at the town’s “20/8” square.
During the event, local travel companies will offer several tours of the province.
At least seven countries importing Vietnamese tea – China, India, Korea, Sri Lanka, Japan, Laos and Russia will join the five-day event expected to receive 400,000 visitors.
Vietnam, the world’s fifth leading tea exporter, has a strong tea culture dating back over 3,000 years.
Tea is one of the country’s 16 leading exported agricultural products, according to the Vietnam Tea Association.
